SECTION LEADERS
Section leaders are professional singers who are part of the music department staff who support the choir with musical expertise and collaborative leadership.
Scott Reeves
Bass and Countertenor
Scott Reeves, countertenor and bass, has sung as a section leader in the Immanuel Congregational Church choir for over forty years. He appeared regionally as a soloist with the Hartford Symphony, CONCORA, Chorus Angelicus, and the Arcadia Players, and toured nationally and internationally with Tres Voces. Scott was a founding member of the Woodland Scholars, Collegium, and Modus VIII. In 2015 he retired from teaching English at Westminster School in Simsbury, and now serves as the school’s archivist. He builds and repairs acoustic guitars.
Scott resides in Simsbury with his wife, Joanne Scattergood, former section leader in the Immanuel Choir. They have three children, Kenneth, Donald, and Edward (Ned).

Caroline Duers
Caroline Duers is a Lyric Coloratura Soprano with a BM from the Eastman School of Music. Inspired by a rich background in choral music, she has performed in honor choirs on the regional, state, and national levels. As a soloist, she has performed leading roles at the Eastman School of Music Opera Department, as well as prestigious venues across the globe. She is currently preparing to continue her academic journey by pursuing a Master’s degree in the fall of 2025.
COLLEGIATE SCHOLARS
Collegiate scholars are undergraduate students from Connecticut colleges, who are majoring in music or music education. Collegiate scholars, fulfill both performance and administrative duties with the choir and music department.
Zeek Zurita
Baritone
Zeek is currently an undergraduate Music Education Major at Central Connecticut State University. At CCSU, Zeek is a member of every choral ensemble which includes Chorale, University Singers and Vocal Jazz, and also sings in the Jazz Combo. Outside of CCSU, Zeek has performed with CONCORA and National Concerts. Zeek is brand new to Immanuel this year, and is one of the choral scholars singing bass/baritone and occasionally tenor.
Brynn Kelley
Soprano/Alto Collegiate Scholar
Brynn is an undergrad at Central Connecticut State University studying Music Education. She is currently involved in all vocal ensembles there including, Vocal Jazz, University Singers, Choral and the Jazz Combo. She also takes part in Wind Ensemble and Marching band playing percussion instruments. Outside of school, Brynn has participated in concerts with Concora and National Concerts. Along with this, she sings for gigs in jazz combos whenever she can. This is Brynn’s first time with Immanuel Congregational as a choral scholar singing as a soprano and alto.
